Article summary

As an Instructor or Admin, you can add the notebook for an ongoing lab. Notebook file is generally pre-imported to a lab as per the standard configurations by default but if incase you want to import another DBC/Notebook file due to any reason, you can do that by following the below steps:

  1. Navigate to On Demand Labs and search with the event ID for which you want to add a notebook.

  2. You can now, navigate to the Control Panel and then select Notebooks tab.

  3. Click on the + ADD button and then provide the required details as mentioned in the next step.

  4. Use drop-down on the Notebook Root Folder and choose Users to import the notebook. It is recommended as per the Databricks standard procedure so the Notebook gets imported to individual's own folders or directory.

  5. The system will automatically get the notebook path in the field that follows, and you must provide the file name for the notebook next to this field.

Note:- You can download the notebook to your local computer once and obtain the right notebook name from there.

Get the notebook name form the downloaded file and exclude the extention (.dbc)

  1. Now, click on Choose file to upload the Notebook file from your local machine and then submit to start notebook file uploading to the workspace.

  2. You should be able to view the status as SUCCEEDED in a minute, which will verify that the notebook has been successfully imported.

Please take note that if there is already a notebook in the workspace with the same name, you will need to rename it before importing. If not, the import will fail because the notebook will already be there.
